Your data: GTFS
The solution is built from GTFS (General Transit Feed Specification), the open standard used by thousands of public transport operators worldwide to publish routes, stops, timetables and route shapes. If your network already publishes a GTFS feed, for example on an open data portal, we can start from it. If you only have an internal GTFS export, that works too.
- Routes, stops, trips and stop times come from your GTFS.
- Route paths come from the GTFS shapes and are matched to the road network (OpenStreetMap).
- Routes can be checked, redrawn or created by our team in an administration tool, for example for a detour or a temporary line.
- When your timetable changes, the new GTFS is integrated and devices check for timetable updates every day.
Countries and networks
Because GTFS is used all over the world, the solution works in every country. The maps are based on OpenStreetMap and the app supports both left-hand and right-hand traffic. The solution is already used by bus operators in Australia and France, on urban, suburban and regional networks.
Devices
- Any Android smartphone or tablet running Android 7.1 or later: you choose the device, or use the ones you already have.
- The screen stays on while navigating.
- The device location (GPS) is used only while the navigation screen is open.
Connectivity: works offline
Maps, routing and timetables are stored on the device, so turn-by-turn guidance and the On Time Running indicator work fully offline. An internet connection is needed for the first installation and for updates, which can be done over the depot Wi-Fi: a mobile data plan is optional.
Languages
- App and website interface: English and French.
- Spoken turn-by-turn instructions: more than 40 languages, using the voice of the Android device.
Companion website
Each network gets its own website showing every route, stop and turn-by-turn step on an interactive map. It works on any computer, tablet or phone, and pages can be printed or shared with a link.
