## Replace paper route booklets

Route booklets, route cards or line guides are how most bus drivers learn and check their routes. They are expensive to produce, hard to keep up to date and difficult to read while driving. My Bus Driver GPS Companion replaces them with an interactive website and an in-cab GPS app, both generated from your timetable data.

### The problem with paper

- Every timetable change means editing, printing and distributing new booklets to every depot.
- Old versions stay in circulation, and drivers have to check which one is current.
- A written list of turns is hard to follow, especially on a route that is new to the driver.
- With paper, drivers have to guess whether they are early or late.

### An interactive website for all drivers

The companion website shows every route of the network on an interactive map. Drivers choose the route, direction, date and departure time, and see:

- the route path on the map, with every stop and its scheduled time (timing points are highlighted);
- the list of turn-by-turn steps with manoeuvre icons; clicking a step shows it on the map;
- a printable version, and a link that can be shared with a colleague or opened directly in the app.

The website is fully responsive, so drivers can use it on a computer at the depot, or on their own phone or tablet at home.

### Always up to date

Everything is generated from your GTFS, the same data you use for passenger information. When the timetable changes, the new data is integrated and the website and the app are updated: printing stops, and every driver always sees the current version.

### And in the cab: GPS guidance

Where a booklet ends, the Android app takes over: turn-by-turn visual and audio guidance along the route, every stop on the map, and an On Time Running indicator at each stop.

### Benefits

- Less paper and lower printing and distribution costs.
- One single, current source of route information for every driver.
- Faster introduction of service changes and new lines.
